Several Classic units are perfectly good and last a long while with occasional cleaning.

Nobody in the family likes the Classic because it is too loud.

Fan-based sound has no detectable loop and is warmer than speaker noise.
“instead of a digital sound they use a small fan to make the noise. makes it so there are no detectable loops and it is a little warmer than noise from a speaker imo.”
The mechanical Dohm was too high pitched to help with sleep.
“I used to have the Dohm white noise machine (mechanical), but realized with how high pitched it was, it wasn’t actually helping me sleep.”
Classic is nice but not loud enough to cover hotel noise.
“I use the classic Dohm which is nice but it's not even that loud. Been using it forever but when I take it to hotels with me it's not loud enough to drown out hotel noises.”
